Major Milestone Achieved: South Sudan Launches Baseline Study on Breast and Cervical Cancer

The National Ministry of Health, South Sudan, is taking a decisive and critical step forward in the fight against cancer. In a landmark event held recently in Juba, Central Equatoria State, the Ministry officially launched the Baseline Study on Breast and Cervical Cancer. This pivotal study marks a major national commitment to understanding the prevalence and impact of these diseases and will serve as the foundation for developing evidence-based, effective cancer control strategies across the nation.

The Power of Partnership in Public Health

The launch event not only highlighted the Ministry's dedication but also underscored the crucial role of partnership in achieving significant public health outcomes. The collective effort of key health and civil society organizations demonstrates a unified front against these devastating diseases.

The Ministry extends its sincere gratitude to the dedicated participants whose commitment and expertise are vital to the success of this study and the subsequent interventions. Special thanks are due to:

  • Bruno (El Sabah Children's Hospital)
  • Guliba Florence (Mission 21)
  • Rev. Thomas Tut Puot Mut (SSCC)

Their presence and ongoing involvement are powerful testaments to the shared vision of a healthier future for all South Sudanese citizens.

Laying the Foundation for a Healthier Future

This Baseline Study is an essential first step. By gathering accurate data on the status of Breast and Cervical Cancer in South Sudan, the Ministry and its partners will be able to:

  • Determine the true burden of disease in various communities.
  • Identify gaps in current screening, diagnosis, and treatment services.
  • Tailor national health programs to ensure maximum impact and reach.

"This study is more than just data collection; it is a declaration of our commitment to saving lives and improving the quality of health for women and families across South Sudan," stated a representative from the National Ministry of Health.

Eye Radio was on the ground to cover this significant event, helping to amplify this message of hope and action across the country.

Together, through informed action and unwavering partnership, we are working to create a healthier future for all of South Sudan.
