Health Ministry Inaugurates New Project Management Unit (PMU)

13th September, 2024 Juba – South Sudan – The National Minister of Health, Hon. Yolanda Awel, expressed her gratitude to the donor community and partners for their support of the health sector transformation project.
In a significant move to bolster healthcare services, the National Ministry of Health inaugurated and established a new Project Management Unit (PMU). This strategic initiative is designed to oversee the implementation of the newly launched health sector transformation project.
The PMU will play a pivotal role in planning, executing, and monitoring various healthcare projects across the country. By centralizing project management, the ministry aims to enhance efficiency, accountability, and transparency in service delivery.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the National Minister of Health, Hon. Yolanda Awel, expressed her gratitude to the donor community and partners for their support of the health sector transformation project. She emphasized the government's commitment to full cooperation and collaboration with all stakeholders.
Hon. Awel urged the newly appointed members of the PMU to work together harmoniously and prioritize the well-being of the population. She stressed the importance of putting the country's interests above all else.
The Health Sector Transformation Project for South Sudan seeks to expand access to essential health and nutrition services, improve governance within the health sector, and strengthen the overall health system.
The establishment of the PMU by the National Ministry of Health is a positive step towards strengthening the sector's project management capabilities. By prioritizing strategic planning, effective implementation, and rigorous monitoring, the PMU will contribute significantly to improving healthcare outcomes for the population.
