Juba | 27 June 2025 - 10th East African Health and Scientific Conference Concludes in Juba with Calls for Investment in Scientific and Digital Health Innovations
The 10th East African Health and Scientific Conference has successfully concluded in Juba, South Sudan, marking a significant step forward in strengthening regional health cooperation. The three-day event brought together over 300 participants from across East African Community (EAC) member states under the theme "Addressing Health Priorities and Advancing East African Regional Health Agenda to Meet Global Health Targets."
A resounding call for investment in scientific health and digital health innovations echoed from the country's leadership during the closing sessions of the conference.
Her Excellency Josephine Joseph Lagu, Vice President and Chair of the Service Cluster, emphasized the critical need to leverage the knowledge and discoveries from the conference. She highlighted their potential for vaccine development, enhanced disease detection, and improved supply chain management. The Vice President underscored the immense power of collaboration across East Africa demonstrated by these discussions.
Hon. Minister Sarah Cleto Rial, Minister of Health of the Republic of South Sudan, strongly advocated for investment in digital health innovations, strengthening outbreak detection frameworks, and boosting regional scientific research. Minister Cleto extended her gratitude to South Sudan's leadership for hosting this significant event in Juba, reaffirming her ministry's commitment to cooperating with member states and acknowledging the invaluable contributions of development partners.
On her part, Hon. Minister and Chairperson of the EAC Council of Ministers, Beatrice Askul Moe, powerfully stated that the presence of numerous countries from the region at this event serves as a testament to Juba's safety and its capability to host major international events without fear of insecurity. She added that Juba is ready for the world, and this conference truly showcased the spirit of regional cooperation and collective commitment to achieving global health targets
