Juba | MoH Hqrs, 17 July 2025 — Enhancing Health Access: South Sudan Ministry of Health Receives Vital Vaccine Vehicles
In exciting news for public health in South Sudan, the Ministry of Health (MoH) announced the reception of a significant donation aimed at bolstering vaccine delivery and strengthening the country's cold chain system. Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and UNICEF South Sudan generously provided four new refrigerated vehicles, a crucial step forward in ensuring timely and effective distribution of vital medical supplies and vaccinations.
These state-of-the-art vehicles are set to revolutionize how vaccines reach communities, with a particular focus on benefiting women and children. Their allocation across five key states will make a substantial impact:
- Northern Bahr El Ghazal
- Lakes State
- Eastern Equatoria
- Western Equatoria (Already Delivered)
- Central Equatoria, Juba
Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial, Minister of Health - Republic of South Sudan, expressed profound gratitude to UNICEF and Gavi for their invaluable contributions. She highlighted the critical importance of maintaining these vehicles to ensure their long-term effectiveness and appealed for continued support to expand outreach to even more states and administrative areas, with the ultimate goal of saving more lives.
"As a ministry and as the people of South Sudan, it is imperative that we use these vehicles responsibly for their intended purpose. We will ensure proper care for the vehicles," stated Hon. Sarah, underscoring the commitment to responsible stewardship of these essential assets.
