JUBA | January 21, 2026 — The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with international health partners and donors, has officially launched a three-day Implementation Review Meeting for Year 2, Quarter 2 of the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP).
The high-level gathering, held at the Palm Africa Hotel, serves as a critical platform for stakeholders to evaluate current progress and refine strategies for the future of South Sudan’s healthcare landscape.
In his opening remarks, Undersecretary Dr. Kennedy Ganniko expressed profound gratitude to the health workers stationed across the nation. He specifically lauded their unwavering dedication to serving communities, often on a voluntary basis, despite the prevailing challenges facing the sector.
"We recognize the immense sacrifices our health workers make every day," Dr. Kennedy stated. "The Ministry is working around the clock to address systemic issues and ensure that our workforce is supported as we transform our health system."
Dr. Kennedy also extended his appreciation to implementing partners, commending the seamless collaboration between the Ministry, state governments, and local communities to enhance service delivery at the grassroots level.
The three-day session is designed to be both a retrospective look at achievements and a forward-thinking planning exercise. Key objectives include:
- Performance Review: Evaluating the milestones reached during Year 2, Quarter 2 of the HSTP.
- Knowledge Sharing: Exchanging best practices from different regions to harmonize quality of care.
- Problem Solving: Identifying and strategizing solutions to overcome existing bottlenecks.
- System Strengthening: Building a more resilient and sustainable health system for all South Sudanese citizens.
The Health Sector Transformation Project remains the cornerstone of the Ministry’s efforts to modernize infrastructure, improve medical supply chains, and enhance the quality of clinical care. By tracking progress and addressing challenges in real-time, the Ministry and its partners are committed to ensuring that every citizen has access to the essential health services they deserve.
Together, we are tracking progress, addressing bottlenecks, and building a more resilient health system for all South Sudanese.
